9Round Franchise: Partnership Implementation
From inception to completion, we consulted on and project managed the build-out of a 9Round franchise within an existing 24 Hour Fitness gym. Neither business had partnered in this way at the time, so we facilitated the collaboration and made sure the final product aligned with the goals of both businesses.
We successfully manged the opening of four new 9Round locations over a two-year span; all amidst the pandemic.
As the consultant and project manager for 24 Hour Fitness, our responsibilities included:
Managing the technology review of the franchise manual and consulting on network integration options, hardware solutions, and software selections between the two established businesses
Facilitiating requirements collection conversations and providing final recommendations for IT Facilities build-out and installation
Collaborating with the networking, IT security, and IT support teams during discovery to ensure they were informed and available to take on required tasks
Partnering with the franchise-assigned general contractor to verify all necessary IT infrastructure was scoped and included on the architectural plans
Contracting and managing a low-voltage vendor to provide IT cabling and hardware installation/testing services
Providing personal on-site inspection upon project completion to verify everything was working as expected
Providing documentation of the full process for future spaces
BFit: Technology Implementation
We were responsible for the technology implemetation of a new, low-cost gym concept called BFit (by 24 Hour Fitness). In 2017 and 2018, we launched seven locations throughout the Pacific Northwest. The concept was minimally staffed, and so relied heavily on self-service IT facilities and automation via RFID.Â
As the consultant and project manager for 24 Hour Fitness, our responsibilities included:
Reviewing IT requirements for selected vendors and providing consultation and recommendations for build-out of space and integration of RFID technologies
Collaborating with 24 Hour Fitness IT teams during discovery and facilitating conversations with external resources to ensure all parties were informed and available to take on required tasks
Procuring and managing the provisioning of new hardware required to support the concept (including, but not limited to self-service kiosk machines, vending machines, hydromassage machines, RFID entry devices, networking and operating hardware, telecom hardware, and A/V equipment)
Selecting and managing contractors during build-out to verify cabling, telecom and networking infrastructure, and hardware were installed and verified in time for opening
Managing the procurement and installation of broadband circuits that would support each space
Providing personal on-site inspection upon project completion to verify everything was working as expected
Providing documentation of the full process for future spaces
